The vision of hanging lanterns on dumplings is to spread love stories and reunite in Rongtai Qingyuanxiao.
Fuxin, Fuzhou, February 10 (Reporter Yan Xu) Glutinous rice flour is kneaded into dough with water, flattened, squeezed with peanut stuffing, and then rounded by hand. On the 10th, just before the Lantern Festival in the Year of the Tiger, the young people from Taiwan Province who stayed in Rongyan for the New Year were unfamiliar with their methods and wrapped up dumplings of different sizes and shapes in the cross-strait community exchange center in Jinan District, Fuzhou.
An annual cultural activity of "Lantern Festival with Love Stories and Reunion" was held here that afternoon. A person from Taiwan Province Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Service Center in Fuzhou said that the purpose of holding this activity is to strengthen exchanges among Taiwan Province youth who cannot return to Taiwan Province for the New Year due to the COVID-19 epidemic, enhance their sense of happiness and belonging, and feel the flavor of the year.
Li Jingji, who participated in the activity, is a Taiwanese clerk in Fuzhou Citizen Service Center and Taiwan Province Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Service Center in Fuzhou. In the service window, his job is to provide consulting, guidance, agency and other services for Taiwan compatriots.
The second time I spent the Spring Festival in Fuzhou, I made dumplings myself for the first time. Li Jingji called this experience "very special". "In the past, the Lantern Festival was all about buying ready-made dumplings. Like this, everyone gathered around and wrapped them and chatted, which was very homely." Li Jingji said that in Taiwan Province, families will eat glutinous rice balls, watch lanterns and watch light shows together during the Lantern Festival, and the holiday customs on both sides of the strait are the same.
Li Jingji admits that for him, the biggest change this year is that he has stayed in a rented house for Taiwan compatriots who are working and starting businesses in Rong.
In recent years, more and more Taiwan compatriots have come to the mainland for development. Fuzhou will include Taiwan compatriots in Rong into the housing security system, and launch the first batch of 550 sets of affordable housing for Taiwan compatriots who are employed and started businesses in Gulou, Taijiang, Cangshan and Jin ‘an urban areas and university towns (including high-tech zones), and enjoy 30% discount on the rental standard and market sales price.
"Some friends I know stay together, much like when I was in college, good friends can visit each other, and everyone can warm up together and communicate together at work and in life." Shortly after moving into a rented house, Li Jingji deeply lightened the burden of life and "can develop more firmly in Fuzhou".
Feng Nianzu, a young man from Taiwan Province, and Jia Lin, a girl from Fuzhou, tied the knot at the new Fuzhou people’s collective wedding at the end of 2021, and also stayed in a rented house for Taiwanese entrepreneurs in Rongrong. On the same day, Mr. and Mrs. Feng Nianzu hung up the Fuzhou traditional lanterns from the staff of Taiwan Province Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Service Center in their new home, and they also experienced the dumplings together.
Living in Fuzhou, Feng Nianzu feels "really blessed". "With a house and a wife, we must work hard in the new year and do our part for cross-strait integration." Feng Nianzu said.
Li Jingji’s New Year’s vision is to let more Taiwan compatriots know about all kinds of measures to benefit Taiwan and the people in Fuzhou in a relaxed way through the influence of new media such as short videos, serve Taiwan compatriots well, and make it easier for them to find jobs and start businesses in Fuzhou.
"I hope that Taiwan compatriots will experience the joyful atmosphere of the festival and inherit and carry forward Chinese traditional culture in the activities of delicious food and reunion." The relevant person in charge of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League said that the Taiwan Province Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Service Center in Fuzhou will take the one-stop solution of entrepreneurship problems for Taiwan compatriots as the foothold, promote family ties, nostalgia and friendship as the link, actively expand the communication path between Taiwan and youth, and build a "homesickness bridge" for young people on both sides of the strait.
