St Petersburg ballet stars light Christmas lights and sell ballet shoes in Dongyi.

Russia has played an irreplaceable role in the inheritance and development of ballet art. Dancers from Russia have tirelessly toured all over the world, spreading the seeds of ballet art to the world.

There are such a group of ballet art visitors in the Dance Open International Ballet Art Festival in St. Petersburg. In the past 19 years, Dance Open has cooperated with more than 190 ballet stars and choreographers from 13 countries, and has performed all over the world. It has held toe ceremonies in 23 countries in Europe, Asia and America.

After a lapse of one year, on November 26th, Dance Open landed in Shanghai Oriental Art Center again, bringing the most essential "Star Show" section of the whole art festival to Shencheng.

In just two hours, nine star dancers from Tchaikovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Mihailovski Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre and Moscow Grand Theatre, such as Julian MacKay, a "beautiful ballet boy", will bring 13 ballet excerpts.

There are not only common classic works such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Fairy, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Firebird, but also less common modern works such as Ballet 101, Tango, Russian, SSS … Love and Mourning. The works of Pitipa and Bournonville are still shining brilliantly.

This performance is still one month away from Christmas this year. To celebrate the coming of Christmas and the New Year, Dongyi held a special Christmas lighting ceremony before the performance, and invited four star dancers from Dance Open as guests to light the Christmas lights together with nearly 100 ballet lovers present.

Nearly 100 pairs of pink satin ballet shoes were hung on the Christmas tree in Dongyi Hall, of which 20 pairs were handed over to four star dancers for signature by four ballet students from Dongyi Education Department. These ballet shoes will be sold for charity on the night of the performance, and the East Art Association will donate the money to Shanghai Jiuqian Volunteer Service to help children with ballet dreams.
