"Black Myth: Wukong" in-depth analysis, the truth behind the blackening of Maitreya Buddha?

In the first demo, the protagonist once turned into a golden cicada, which may indicate that he can also "change seventy-two" like Sun Wukong. And this scene is controlled by the player, not CG or instant calculus cutscenes. Extending this, maybe players can turn into animals to travel while playing, or unlock more and more areas as the number of mutable forms increases, such as underwater, sky, and underground.

The transformation in the first demo

In the second half of the demonstration, the voice of the narrator appeared again, quoting what the Blessed One said at the Yu Lan meeting: "The suffering of all living beings is mostly due to disobeying the precepts and indulging in lust", and mentioning the Buddhist eight precepts, namely "do not kill", "do not steal", "do not commit adultery", "do not lie", "do not crave wine", "do not avoid fragrant flowers", "do not crave sleep", "do not eat in time". Among them, "do not be fragrant" was replaced by "do not delay music", and "do not eat in time" was changed to "do not indulge in lust".

Then, the narrator refuted these Buddhist precepts one by one.

It should be mentioned here that the Blessed One is the honorific title of Buddha in Buddhist culture, and most of the time it refers to the founder of Buddhism, Sakyamuni. And the Tathagata in "Journey to the West" is the collection of higher Buddhas such as Sakyamuni, and it happens to be at the Obong meeting, and the plan of learning scriptures is decided, so the Buddha mentioned in the narration is the Tathagata.

Remember that I mentioned at the beginning of the article that the narrator may be the opposite of the Buddha? With the above information, we can make it more clear that the narrator is an anti-Buddhist being, maybe even a nemesis of the Tathagata. And his identity may be revealed at the end of the presentation.

The narrator’s evaluation of what the "Blessed One" said

Near the end of the demonstration, a Buddha appeared in the Little Thunderclap Monastery. From what he said, "Seeing the future, why don’t you worship?" We can know that it is the "Maitreya Buddha" called the Future Buddha, and judging from the sound, Maitreya Buddha and the narrator are likely to be the same person.

The future Buddha in Buddhism is Maitreya Buddha

In the first half of the demonstration, we can see a statue of Maitreya Buddha standing on the top of a building, but it is different from the compassion that the statue reflects. There are actually two human heads hanging around the neck of Maitreya Buddha’s real body. Is he blackened?

There is a huge gap between the image of Maitreya Buddha at the beginning and the image of Maitreya Buddha at the end

In this regard, it is indeed possible to connect the details previously revealed in "Black Myth: Goku" with the setting of "rebellion" and "dark". And the scene and behavior of Maitreya Buddha also further deepen the possibility of this conjecture. When Maitreya Buddha appeared, there was a group of "Buddhas" around him. Judging from their ferocious faces, they were not so much "Buddhas" as "monsters"; and after seeing the protagonist, Maitreya Buddha directly imprisoned him in the golden cypress – which exactly corresponds to the behavior of the Yellow-browed King in "Journey to the West".

The various "gods and Buddhas" beside Maitreya Buddha

From this, it was further speculated that the Buddha of Little Thunderclap Monastery in "Journey to the West" was pretended by King Huangmei, so who pretended to be the Maitreya Buddha of Little Thunderclap Monastery in the game? Or, did the Maitreya Buddha here stop "pretending"?

Finally, there are some small details in this demo that may help us gain a deeper understanding of the game, such as the monster with eyes on its back.

The second picture is a waste manuscript of seeing joy

Judging from the abandoned setting map, it is the "joy in the eyes" in "Journey to the West". It is a member of the robber organization. The other members are anger in the ears, love in the nose, smell, taste in the tongue, desire for opinions, and worry about the body. They represent the "six roots" of people.

Moreover, "Tongue Taste" actually appeared in the game. In the setting picture, it was a monster with a huge tongue and held a corpse. The producer Yang Qi once said on Weibo that Tongue Taste could also have a poignant love story.

The monster with a long face and knees in the demo also appeared in the set. It was a fake Buddha in the Little Thunderclap Temple, which corresponded to the monster that turned into a Buddha under King Huang Mei in "Journey to the West".

The BUDDHA in the original painting means Buddha, while XIAOLEIYIN naturally refers to the Little Thunderclap Temple

In addition, the black bear spirit in "Journey to the West" also made an appearance in this demonstration. Previously, it was mentioned that the Black Wind Mountain where the injured white dragon is located is the lair of this monster, and we may interact with it here.

Regarding the analysis of the second paragraph of the demonstration of "Black Myth", this is the end. I am not talented. If there are flaws in the article, I hope you can communicate rationally and correct them.
