Geely satellite project started in Qinghai, will build our country’s first global low-orbit satellite constellation

What is "satellite Internet"? In 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission included "satellite Internet" in the new infrastructure category for the first time, and the development of satellite Internet has been raised to a national strategic project. The development of satellite Internet has increasingly become a symbol of national strategic status, and the potential market value and scarce space frequency orbit resources have also become the focus of attention of countries around the world.

It is understood that the Geely Satellite Internet project is located in the SCO Demonstration Zone and is invested and built by Zhejiang Time and Space Dao Yu Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Geely Technology Group. The project will be led by deep integration into the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", layout and construction of the global satellite constellation business headquarters, the global satellite constellation measurement and operation control center, the smart logistics application base, the smart marine application base, the AI data operation center, the end point module design and development center, etc., to build the first global low-orbit satellite constellation in China and create a world-leading integrated satellite Internet demonstration project.

Xu Zhihao, CEO of Geely Technology Group, said at the foundation-breaking ceremony of the project that what attracts companies to the SCO Demonstration Zone is not only the location, transportation and ecological conditions, but also the first-class business environment. Behind the implementation of satellite Internet projects, high-quality and efficient services are inseparable.

It is reported that in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the project, the Jiaozhou Natural Resources and Planning Bureau has established a special class for project landing guarantee work, which is based on the date of project start-up, forcing land approval and supply, construction plan review and other procedures to be handled, and to provide door-to-door services and on-site offices in town streets, functional areas and project parties.

The special class took the method of stubble pressing and advancing to solve the problems existing in planning adjustment, land reserve transfer, plan review, etc., and took the initiative to coordinate with relevant departments to speed up the acquisition of forest land and the issuance of construction project planning permits. Before the project was acquired, the project construction plan review, meeting deliberation, and pre-approval publicity were completed in advance, which saved the time and cost for the project to start construction to the greatest extent.

In the end, it took only 30 days for the Geely Satellite Internet project to go from planning the site selection to the land transfer transaction, and then to getting the construction project planning license, so the project started construction and pressed the "fast forward button".

It is reported that the Geely satellite Internet project is located in the SCO demonstration zone Shangde Avenue east, Xiangjiang Road north, the planned plot ratio of 2.09, the total construction area of 53039.21 square meters, underground construction area of 11319.46 square meters, can provide 305 underground parking spaces, will build and operate our country’s first self-developed global low-orbit satellite constellation, to build the world’s leading space-based satellite Internet, is to promote the SCO demonstration zone high-level opening, high-quality development and another major achievement.
