What are the clinical manifestations of human metapneumovirus infection? According to experts from the Institute of Virology, China CDC, children, people with low immune function and the elderly are susceptible to human metapneumovirus and can be mixed with other respiratory viruses. Human metapneumovirus infection often causes common cold symptoms, such as cough, fever, nasal congestion and wheezing, and the treatment measures are mostly symptomatic support treatment.
In terms of transmission and epidemic characteristics, human metapneumovirus is mainly transmitted by droplets or aerosols produced by coughing and sneezing, and it may also be transmitted by close contact with infected people or the environment polluted by the virus. Generally speaking, the incubation period after infection is about 3 to 5 days.
Experts said that the prevention of human metapneumovirus infection is similar to the prevention and control of other common respiratory viruses. It is recommended to maintain a regular life and a good attitude. It is best to wear a mask when going to crowded places, and at the same time take preventive measures such as frequent hand washing, frequent ventilation and scientific disinfection.
