On May 25, Yu Chengdong, executive director of Huawei, chairperson of end point BG, and chairperson of smart car solutions BU, said at the open-source Hongmeng OpenHarmony developer conference that the number of native applications of HarmonyOS NEXT Hongmeng Galaxy Edition has exceeded 4000.

Yu Chengdong said that the adaptation of mainstream software is the top priority, and hopes to build a complete intelligent end point operating system software ecosystem including development languages, compilers, and power builders through Open Harmony. After this step is done, thousands of enterprise developers in China will develop equipment and software based on this. HarmonyOS NEXT Hongmeng Galaxy Edition system base is fully self-developed, cutting the traditional Linux kernel, AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and other codes, and only supports Hongmeng kernel and Hongmeng system applications, so it is also called "pure blood Hongmeng".

Huawei vice chairperson and rotating chairperson Xu Zhijun previously revealed that he expects to be able to list with pure blood Hongmeng when the Mate 70 is sold this year. According to research firm TechInsights, Android and Apple iOS will continue to maintain their dual status globally. From 2024, Hongmeng will become the second largest smartphone operating system in the Chinese market.
