Have you seen these "winter limited" peerless beauty?

Recently, in Hailar, Inner Mongolia, the spectacle of "cold night lamp post" appeared, and the dreamlike beauty surprised netizens. What are the exclusive winter beauty? Can only the north see the limited beauty in winter? Not necessarily. As long as certain natural conditions are met, these beautiful winter scenery can also be seen in the south.

Ice crystals shape the wonders of lamp posts

Cold night lampposts are not the exclusive beauty of Hailar, but have appeared in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang and many other places. The principle of this natural phenomenon is that the water in the air condenses into ice crystals on cold winter nights, and when the ground light source shoots into the sky, the ice crystals capture these rays. Because these ice crystals are hexagonal, they reflect light into the air like millions of miniature mirrors, and what the human eye sees is actually a virtual image of the reflected light beam. Cold weather and relatively sufficient water vapor are the conditions for its formation.

Usually this kind of landscape only appears in the cold north, but there have been "warm night lampposts" coming to the south. On May 10, 2020, this spectacle appeared in Xiamen, Fujian. "Warm night lamp post" has more stringent requirements on meteorological conditions, which are not affected by low clouds and medium clouds, but only high clouds exist; It is also necessary to have high air humidity and low wind power at high altitude; There must also be ice crystals … These conditions are indispensable, which is called an opportunity that can be met but not sought.

Water vapor and low temperature shape "Yushu Qiongzhi"

On the banks of Songhua River in Jilin City, Jilin Province, a large number of tourists come to enjoy the rime landscape every winter. The "Yushu Qiongzhi" on the banks of the river is like a fairy tale world. In essence, rime is a kind of frost, which is a deposit formed by ice crystals on an object with a temperature below freezing point. The formation process is that when water mist below zero collides with an object with the same freezing temperature, rime will be formed.

Rime can be divided into two types. Crystalline rime is formed by supercooled droplets colliding with the windward surface of an object with a temperature lower than 0℃, which is translucent ground glass with high density and high wind speed. Granular rime is formed due to the saturated water vapor pressure difference between the ice surface and the water surface, which makes the supercooled droplets evaporate and the rime condenses and grows. It is creamy, crisp and granular, with low density and low wind speed.

This kind of scene can often be seen in the mountainous areas in the south, and there have also been rimes in Nanjing and Lianyungang in Jiangsu recently. Usually, the mountain areas with higher altitude are more likely to appear, such as Huangshan Mountain in Anhui Province, which is famous for rime, and many peaks of Huangshan Mountain are above 1500 meters above sea level. According to the website of Huangshan Municipal People’s Government, there are more than 60 days of rime in Huangshan Scenic Area every year on average, which is generally concentrated from late November to early March of the following year.

The "fog and frost tree" that can only be seen from God’s perspective

In addition to these beautiful scenery that can be seen from standing on the ground, there are also some winter wonders that must be seen from the perspective of God. On January 25th, Modern Express reported the wonders of "Fog Frost Tree" in the Tiaozi Mud Wetland in Dongtai, Yancheng. Tidal tree is a special sedimentary landform, and tidal current constantly washes and erodes on sandy and muddy beaches to form grooves. Looking down from the sky, these grooves are "trunk" on the ocean side, and "branches" on the land side. The direction of wind and the strength of water make the shape of tidal trees ever-changing.

Tidal trees, under the attack of the cold wave, were stained with frost and frosted, just like "Yushu" growing out of the sea and growing on the beach. The "fog and frost tree" needs sandy mudflats, but also has a low temperature environment, and the conditions for its appearance are relatively harsh.
